Kelley's Grill

The older gentleman behind the bar was the bartender, waiter and busboy all in one. He is a man of few words with a low and deep voice. But he is very attentive and when we decided to split a sandwich, without us requesting he split it onto two plates with a coleslaw and potato chips for each. We ordered the jerky Club on wheat which came as a double decker sandwich with the turkey chunks on the bottom half and the bacon, lettuce and tomato on the top half. Both the sandwich and the coleslaw were delicious. We also ordered the macaroni and cheese bites which came first and were perfectly crisp without feeling greasy and were flavorful on their own or could be dipped in ranch dressing. Seating is limited to the bar; a shuffle board takes up the wall opposite the bar. Small but works for a small town, with lots of wood in the interior, so low lighting even during the day. Ice tea (unsweetened, the way I prefer) was good - he filled the cup with ice but must have added brewed tea that melted a bit of the ice, creating a wonderful tall ice tea. Parking is available in back. Bring cash as it is cash only!

Are you looking for an authentic dive bar experience in a small town in upstate NY, well this is your place. The food is actually quite good. I had a grilld ham and cheese and a PBR. Try to go when there is a football game on for the full experience.

Food and fun was always the best at Kelly's! Our wedding invitation was on the bulletin board back in 1978, 47 years ago! Dennis and Terry Dyer. My father was afraid that the whole town would show up at our wedding on Long Island LOL you will find the best people in the world right there at Kelly's and if you want to complain about the Flies then just remove yourself from dairy cow country! I've been around these beautiful United States and I have never found a more beautiful place then Schoharie County! Count your blessings y'all!
