Koumidou Retreat Spiral Walk

For a meditative, unique experience, away from crowds, you are invited to the Spiral Walk. Located at the Koumidou Retreat Center, you have the opportunity for quiet pondering while walking the 4-acre grass Spiral. At the center of the Spiral, a tree with a bench underneath awaits you. Rest as long as you wish under its shade, before beginning your outward path. The entire experience might take anywhere from half to two hours, according to how slow or fast you wish to perform it.

During your walk, you might catch glimpses of deer, wild turkeys, bunnies, chipmunks, or groundhogs which frequent the valley. Most probably you will spot a hawk or hear a distant owl. In the summer, a variety of flowers surrounds you. In the Fall, the Spiral is embraced by the brilliant colors of the autumn foliage. You can make an appointment to walk the Spiral at any time of day; however, the ideal times are either early morning or at dusk. After completing your walk, you might rest by the pond located near the Spiral. You are welcome to bring a snack or a non-alcoholic beverage (no alcohol allowed) to enjoy, while gazing at the bass, minnows, and grass carp swimming lazily in the pond.

The Spiral Walk is open to the public in July, August, September, and October BY (text) APPOINTMENT ONLY. To ensure and foster serenity and quietude during this experience, only three cars are allowed entry at a time. There is a $10 per-car entry fee (parking is free) which goes towards maintenance of the grounds. You are strongly encouraged to wear a hat and covered shoes to avoid possible tick bites since the area is saturated with deer year-round. PLEASE TEXT TO SCHEDULE.

The Koumidou Retreat Center, established in 2004, has been offering Private Couples and Individual Psychotherapeutic Retreats as well as Psycho-Spiritual Group Retreats from April to October.
